Glowing Example: Whalley Chambers façade lighting enhances nightime ambience

Updated Whalley Chambers facade in Currie Street.

It’s official. The final piece in Nambour’s Streetscape Project is now complete. The night lighting of the historic Whalley Chambers Façade has created the mood and ambience that project organisers Reimagine Nambour Inc had hoped for.

The grand 100-plus year old building looks splendid with its restored facade now shining day and night.

A Reimagine Nambour Spokesperson said one of the project’s aims, was to link into the Special Entertainment Precinct which encircles the Nambour CBD.

He said the idea was to enhance the potential nightlife scene and Whalley Chambers was a glowing example of how to achieve that.

The total Streetscape project was supported by a Federal Community Development Grants Program and Reimagine Nambour would like to thank, the Federal Member for Fairfax, Ted O’Brien.

They also wished to specially thank the building’s owner, Tony Duncan, for restoring the façade back to original in 2021, and then taking on this further initiative with lighting consultants Brad Kennedy Electrical.

“We thank them for the many hours put in to making sure the finished article was just right.”

The re-painting of another historic building – Chadwick Chambers is now underway and the extensive renovation and re-paint of our Art Deco, Club Hotel last year brings revived interest into the main street of Nambour.
