Curated by celebrated cellist Louise King, the series features guest artists from Ireland, Hungary, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, and Canberra.

Choose from three concerts
The 2025 program includes three captivating concerts:
• Friday, 10 January, 7pm – Folk and Originals: Headline artists Ilse de Ziah (Irish-Australian cellist and composer) and guitarist Ian Date will present music from their acclaimed album Here & There. Their melodies capture the essence of sea, sand, love, and hope through virtuosic improvisation and heartfelt storytelling.
• Saturday, 11 January, 7pm – Baroque and Tango: The evening features Tango Enigmatico, specialists in Argentine Nuevo Tango, with Flora Wong (violin), Cara Tran (piano), and Chloe Williamson (double bass). Adding to the program, renowned cellist Zoe Knighton from Melbourne’s Flinders Quartet joins Louise King and retreat artists in performing works by Gabrielli, Bach, Piazzolla, and Cassado.
• Sunday, 12 January, 3:30pm – Classical Cellissimo!: An afternoon of classical brilliance showcases international master cellist Gyorgy Deri, alongside Zoe Knighton and Louise King. The program features works by Kodaly, Popper, and Liszt, complemented by performances from emerging artists and the Retreat Cello Choir, who will present an eclectic mix of Mozart, Gershwin, Coldplay, and Lady Gaga.
“It is exciting to bring musicians of this calibre to the Coast and the program has been carefully curated to showcase the incredible versatility of the cello across musical genres,” Louise said. “Tickets to the Summer Concerts would make a fabulous Christmas gift for music lovers.”
Cello Dreaming Summer Intensive Retreat
Running parallel to the concerts, the sold-out Cello Dreaming Summer Intensive Retreat (9–12 January) will welcome cellists from across Australia to Eudlo Hall for a transformative experience. Led by a faculty of six professional musicians and three wellness practitioners, the retreat blends technical mastery with holistic practices like Feldenkrais, yoga, and meditation.
“The cello is experiencing a cultural renaissance, thanks to popular acts like The Piano Guys and 2Cellos,” says Louise King. “This concert series feels more like a national cello festival, offering something truly special for local audiences.”
