Kai Tay and Vanessa Ong are the new owners of Woombye’s Sunshine Coast Motor Lodge.

Kai and Vanessa moved from Melbourne and have a Malaysian background. 

They have been in the hotel and tourism industry for years before taking on the Lodge. 

“We have both worked across hotels in Malaysia, Sydney and Melbourne and want to continue our passion for the industry here,” said Kai.

Even though the pandemic had transformed the industry in many ways the couple believes hospitality has a great future. “We plan to continue serving our guests at the best of our ability,” said Kai. 

“There are always challenges and obstacles  when taking ownership and moving to a new area but we believe these experiences will shape us to be better business owners and better people,” said Vanessa. 

“We’re happy we are able to start our first business in Woombye. We are both thrilled to be part of the Woombye community and have loved the area and community since moving here.”
