New Skilling Queenslanders for Work funding available

The State Government has opened the first funding round of the Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative for 2025-26, aiming to boost employment opportunities on the Coast.

This initiative funds community organisations to deliver training and employment projects for disadvantaged jobseekers, including First Nations peoples, people with disabilities, culturally and linguistically diverse individuals, women, and mature-age job seekers.

In the last round, 106 organisations received nearly $50 million, helping more than 6,000 Queenslanders, with $7.08 million allocated to 23 projects in the Sunshine Coast region.

Member for Nicklin Marty Hunt said the latest funding round presented a major opportunity for community organisations to make a difference and empower local people through training. “From revegetation and land management, to hospitality and construction – Skilling Queenslanders for Work helps deliver much-needed local projects, while delivering real skills for local jobseekers,” Mr Hunt said.

• Applications are now open and close at 5pm, Thursday 27 March 2025.
