Cancer support event coming to Maleny Seventh Day Adventist Community Development Centre

The Maleny Seventh Day Adventist Community Development Centre is excited to offer the community a monthly cancer support group. The group will meet on the last Sunday of each month from 2pm to 4pm. There is a $5 fee to cover basic costs.

Each session will include an informative lecture, question time, an activity, discussion time and a lucky draw prize.

The lectures will cover topics ranging from cancer, its causes,

managing side effects of treatment, lifestyle management, survivorship coaching and much more.

At the February meeting, the group will hear from Tony Bates, a practitioner who has worked in the health industry for more than 20 years.

Tony’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Health Science (Complementary Medicine), an Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy, Master of Health Science (Complementary Medicine), and a Master of Clinical Nursing (Oncology).

Tony has worked in oncology clinical research and now works as a clinical nurse at an Integrative Cancer Care Centre.

Tony’s wealth of knowledge in the integrative health sector is combined with a functional approach to medicine, that focuses on mitigation of drivers of disease, such as chronic inflammation, genetics, epigenetics and dysfunctional lifestyle factors. He works through a personalised, client-centred and multifaceted approach that moves the individual towards self-empowerment and wellness.

Do not miss this opportunity to be inspired with hope and learn practical methods of dealing with common problems related to cancer, its treatment, adverse effects and survivorship.

The next meeting is on Sunday February 23 from 2pm to 4pm

at 926 Maleny-Montville Rd, Balmoral Ridge.

Tony Bates has 20 years of experience and offers integrative and client-centred insights to cancer patients
