Sunshine Coast Animal Rescue Shelter at Sippy Downs (SCARS) is running a Make my May promotion and calling on the public to help them clear the shelter by finding homes for the resident cats and dogs. 

“It’s all about trying to clear the shelter to create more room for other cats and dogs in need to get their second chance,” said SCARS president Penny Brischke. 

• All dogs over 6 months** are only $99 to adopt. 

• All cats over 6 months** are only $29 to adopt.

• All standard adoption conditions apply (**Does not include small breed dogs and puppies or kittens).

To help the cause Penny highlighted a cat and two dogs that would make great pets.

“Tiddles is a sweet nearly 3-year-old cat who has been in SCARS care for over 300 days,” said Penny. “She is only $29 to adopt. Tiddles has that Torti girl spunk that tortoise-shell owners know and love. We would love to see her settled — and with patience and a calm house, we believe her true personality will come through.”

Penny said Turbo and Sasha were like the odd-couple of dogs. 

“Sasha and Turbo are best buddies and we need to find their forever home. Turbo is a nearly 7 year old Ridgeback-cross and his little mate Sasha is a 12 year old Kelpie-cross. 

“They are currently in a foster home. Their carers can’t believe no-one has wanted to adopt them as they are the best-behaved dogs. They would enjoy an indoor/outdoor lifestyle.

“It’s important we keep this adorable odd couple together as Turbo relies on Sasha. She is like the calm and all-knowing big sister. Turbo is the biggest softie. He loves nothing more than a pat, cuddle and to be close to you. Sasha is his rock!
