Precision styling offered at Nambour’s newest hair salon

Hubert Sigl, left, and Nathan Cronin have fitted out a welcoming salon at the front of their home.

Business Writeup: Salon Haarscharf

After 30 years of operating hair salons in Germany, Hubert Sigl and Nathan Cronin have recently opened Salon Haarscharf (Precise Hair) in Nambour.

“At one time we were running two salons, with 20 staff,” Hubert said.

“While that had its own rewards, it also took us away from the reasons we originally got into the industry; to style hair.

“So it is actually really nice to be able to offer our services in an environment where we can focus on our clients, rather than managing staff.”

The couple found the perfect location for their new home at 122 Nambour Mapleton Road, and set about fitting out a light, airy and welcoming salon space at the front.

Nathan was trained in Australia and spent his early career working for prestigious salons such as Fadis, Bohemian Hair Artistry and Hype Hairdressers.

Hubert was trained in Germany, where the process of attaining qualifications is extremely demanding.

“In order to become a Master Craftsman or Master Hairdresser in Germany, you have to work through a 6 year apprenticeship,” Hubert said.

“There is a very strong focus on cutting techniques and I think that is something we both have a very strong passion for. We used to have clients who would drive up to 100kms to have their hair cut at our salon, which used to blow us away! I guess that was indicative that we were doing something right.”

While Hubert’s preferences are cuts, global colour and painting , Nathan prefers  cutting, foils and balayage techniques .

“I think we compliment each other quite well in that way,” Hubert said.

“Having said that, we are both trained in full ladies and mens hairdressing.”

Quality products are key to vital, beautiful hair, and Nathan and Hubert have worked previously with brands such as Wella, Kevin Murphy, American Crew, Medavita L’OReal and Pure Hair.

“We have sourced a new brand that we are very excited about, and it was ‘born in Italy, raised in Australia’,” Hubert said.

“Jeval is a gentle, cruelty free and vegan range which was developed for longer lasting colour, a healthy scalp and shiny hair,” he said. “We are really impressed with the results we are achieving with it.”

Salon Haarscharf is open Tuesday to Friday from 9am to 6pm and Saturday from 9am to 1pm.

“At other times we are open by request and depending on what our client needs,” Hubert said.

“If it is a big colour job, we do not rush; it takes as long as it does to get the results our clients want.”
