Photo contributed.Story by Richard BruinsmaThe news of a little girl going missing in Palmwoods, the day before the anniversary of Daniel Morcombe’s abduction and murder, has highlighted both the enduring pain in the community, as well as its willingness to help in such circumstances.The 10-year-old girl was reported missing late on Sunday December 6, after failing to return home from riding her pushbike earlier that day.By the time the news had spread more widely on Monday morning, community members, still scarred by Daniel’s tragedy,  were geared up to help.Ashleigh Brownlow, of Earthborn Australia, was on her way to work but took a detour to her printer when she heard the radio broadcast.“I just couldn’t believe it happened again, and it was Palmwoods again, and we live in Palmwoods so I wondered what we could do,” Ms Brownlow said.Within in an hour, she had begun distributing 500 A5 and A3 “missing” posters around Forest Glen to help find the girl.“It certainly affected us; we drive past the Daniel Morcombe memorial almost every day; we don’t think that tragedy will ever leave the minds of Australians and especially the ones who live in the Palmwoods and Woombye area.”She had support from her neighbour and friend Jen Sanders.“And we were aware it was Daniel’s anniversary too, so that was freaking everyone out,” Ms Sanders said.Thankfully, the little girl was found safe and well at around lunchtime in Maroochydore, but not before the community had been forced to relive its hurt and fears from 12 years ago.“In ways it’s a negative thing, but in many ways it’s a positive thing because it makes everyone aware and it helps get them involved in the community,” Ms Brownlow said.
