Range Community Kindy has a history dating back to 1986 where it began as a ‘pack away’ Kindergarten at the historic Mapleton Hall. 

Sharing the Obi Obi Road premises with numerous community groups meant packing away the Kindergarten equipment in its entirety each day.

In 1991, the Kindergarten was able to relocate to its current location  on Flaxton Drive, Mapleton where it will celebrate 35 years of operation on October 16. 

“Having been built and developed due to the valiant fundraising efforts of volunteers and committees from the beginning, you could say we are grown from and are embedded in our local community,” said Director Margaret Lamb.

“Part of our curriculum focus is to help the children build a confident self-identity and sense of who they are. 

“This is easily evident in their pride in being part of their families and local kindy community.”

Margaret said the recent Obstacle-a-thon was a fun and healthy way to draw families together at the Kindy.

“Parents and families enjoyed cheering their little champions on, and also coming together for a picnic morning tea in the Kindy yard.”

The community is invited to the Community Fun Day on Saturday October 16th between 9am and 12noon.

“We will welcome everyone who has been a part of our growing Kindy family, those looking forward to joining us soon, and those just interested in what the fun is all about,” said parent Harmony Rutledge.

Range Community Kindergarten has steadily continued to improve and grow due to the involvement and dedication of its staff, parents and friends. 

With each year the buildings, grounds and equipment develop further as improvements and refurbishments are facilitated.

“It’s an amazing little community. Our current director Margaret Lamb has been there for 20 of those years,” said Harmony.  

“Both of my children have attended the Range Kindy, I feel so incredibly grateful to have such a loving, nurturing, encouraging & playful environment for our children on the Range. It truly is a magical place.”
