On October 15, join the Queensland Country Women’s Association (QCWA) Maleny Branch and the Maple Street Co-op in celebrating International Rural Women’s Day.

The global event honors the incredible contributions of women, especially those dedicated to providing the community with nutritious, locally-produced, and sustainable organic food.

“Fresh fruit and vegetables delivered daily not only preserve their nutritional essence but also bolster our local economy,” said QCWA Maleny Branch Country Kitchen Facilitator Judy Stubbs.

The QCWA’s Country Kitchens Program emphasizes the importance of health and education, sharing five pivotal messages with the community. Judy Stubbs elaborates, “Our core principles include consuming more fruits and vegetables, home-cooked meals, understanding portion sizes, recognizing sugar content in drinks, and advocating for a balanced lifestyle with less sitting and more movement.”

This collaboration between the QCWA and the Co-op seeks to shed light on the significant role of rural women in our community, particularly their invaluable contribution to the Co-op’s offerings. As part of the celebration, the Maple Street Co-op will host an interactive event starting from 9am.

Attendees can look forward to taste testing, collecting unique recipes, engaging with our remarkable local producers, and participating in a fresh food raffle.
