Wishlist representative Kerri Cavanagh was on hand last week to thank the QCWA Nambour North Coast Division craft group for their generous donation of crafted items for distribution to local public hospitals.

“We are thrilled to accept these beautiful and lovingly-made craft items on behalf of patients within our hospital and health service,” Ms Cavanagh said.

“These include fiddle sleeves for our patients with dementia or cognitive issues, blankets, turbans for cancer patients, toys for the Children’s and Adolescents Unit and many other craft items.”

Knitting and Crochet Convenor for Nambour North Coast Division Sharon Tilly said 126 handmade items were created by friends and family in the community and 11 branches in the Nambour North Coast Division reaching from Tewantin-Noosa, Eumundi, Cooroy, Yandina, Maleny, Nambour, Maroochydore, Beerwah, Caloundra, Peachester, and Palmwoods.

“I wish to thank all Nambour North Coast members for giving up their quality time at home to hand make the knee rugs, fiddle sleeves, turbans, toys, beanies and scarves.

“These items are handmade with care, as a loving gift for the children and sick patients, hoping to make them smile and that they may know that the QCWA and our community cares.”

Wishlist is also currently building an Australian-first facility offering affordable patient accommodation, primary healthcare and complementary therapies under one roof.

Under construction opposite the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, Wishlist Centre will open in the coming months to support patients and families facing a health crisis.

There is still time to donate the project by Donating a Virtual Brick at wishlist.org.au for your name and message to forever be acknowledged within the centre.
