A lifetime love of animals and country living have influenced Jenny and Syd Carpenter’s decision to open their new business venture in Nambour.

Nambour Feed and Horse Gear is set to open mid August and will supply everything you need to feed and care for your horses and smaller pets.

“As a child growing up in the UK, I always had horses,” Jenny said. “And our family has always had a bit of a menagerie of cats and dogs. They are part of our family, as animal lovers will understand.

“So although it is a departure from our previous business ventures, this is actually a very natural transition for us. ”

Jenny and Syd moved to Australia from the UK 13 years ago on a working visa, to start a childcare centre. They ran the centre for three years before moving to the Sunshine Coast 8 years ago.

“We have lived in a few different spots, most of them acreage with our furry family,” said Jenny. “When we decided that we felt like a career change, we were sold on Nambour as the place we wanted to be. It is so central and convenient for local horse and animal owners.”

“We will be stocking supplies for horses, including feed,  several types of hay and supplements and basically anything to keep them healthy and happy,” Jenny said.

Horse lovers will find many well known products, but also different ones such as Dr Show, Super Goo and Horse Herbalist on the shelves.

Horse gear such as head collars, grooming items, whips, hay nets, buckets, and western riding equipment for every day horse needs and shows will also be available.

We will also be surveying our local horse community to find out what products they need and would like us to stock.”

The feed section will supply many of the well known brands of horse feed such as Prydes, Coprice, Mitavite, Lympia and Barastoc and we will listen to our customers to see what else they are looking for feed wise for horses and other animals.

“Our premises is a large space made up of separate areas, which will be easy for customers to navigate,” said Jenny.

“At the front will be horse and rider gear and in the separate sheds we will house the dog and cat food and horse hay and feeds.”

“Nambour is a great spot, surrounded by rural areas, with lots of animal lovers that want the best for their pets, so we hope to be able to offer a bit of a one stop shop.” Jenny said.
