New-look Mapleton Community Library

Library volunteers enjoy a well-earned coffee break.

Mapleton book lovers will be pleased to know their local library reopened its doors to discerning members on Monday following a refurb.

And what a difference 14 days makes! For in those two weeks  carpenters, painters, electricians and an IT technician worked their magic and produced an innovative streamlined Library.

Even before the renovations, teams of volunteers and members of the Blackall Range Lions Club were involved in clearing the area. They removed all the Library resources and dumped excess fittings from the body of the building. At the conclusion of the modernization, they returned the resources to the revamped home.

The end result is a much more spacious and comfortable area in which to browse away the time studying the Library’s up-to-date resources and checking out the latest popular authors, plus some old favourites.

The new-look Library, run entirely by volunteers,  welcomes all our clientele back to enjoy these new surroundings and also invites the public to pop-in for a look.

Without a doubt the members will marvel at what a difference some creative changes have wrought plus a successful Gaming grant which partly funded these renovations.

And don’t forget our next Book Fair on Sunday, 16th May when there will be some great current novels, non-fiction books and DVD’s on offer.
