Ted O’Brien organises “the race that stops Nambour” each year, with funds going to the STEMM program.

The annual Nambour Cup, held on Saturday night as part of the Nambour Tramfest, was a hopping success. A boisterous crowd cheered enthusiastically, taking a keen interest in the quirky race that has become a beloved local tradition.

Generous sponsorship contributed to raising a record $2,000 for the STEMM program—a mothering and mentoring initiative offering a unique, stand-alone curriculum that enables pregnant girls and young mothers to achieve their educational goals.

This year's champion was RUM-pel-Toadskin (a playful nod to Rumpelstiltskin), a fine young "stead" owned by Nil Desperandum and stabled at Sunshine & Sons, the Woombye distillers known for their fine rum, gin, and vodka. The Sunshine Valley Gazette's entry, Gazza, placed further back in the field but enjoyed spirited support from the crowd.

Organised annually by Federal Member for Fairfax, Ted O'Brien, the event highlighted the community's generosity and vibrant spirit. Photos from the night capture the lively atmosphere and the joy shared by all who attended.
