Hunters and collectors out in force at Collectorama
It’s time to mark your calendar for the next thrilling Collectorama Fair which will be held on Saturday May 29. The Nambour Showgrounds will be humming with the sound of hunters and collectors looking for nectar! The thrill is in the chase, stalking bargains and that ‘eureka’ moment when you hit gold!
“It’s a confluence of eras at this giant fair,” said organiser, Laurie Wall. “The vast amount of carefully amassed stock, when so many dealers converge here, puts your senses into overload. High end antiques rub shoulders with vintage, so all budgets are catered for and it’s one of those places which always yields a great find.
“The items you buy take on even more significance when you get them home, installed into your world, admired, your own rare treasure!
“And that’s the joy of the fair. Finding those one off pieces which bubble to the surface, so nab that bargain when you see it!
“Vintage style interior decorating is so cool and evidenced in many homes, cafés, bars, boutiques, and hip hotels,” Laurie said. “It does look exciting, and the mix of contemporary and vintage works very well. Or all vintage.
“Some people go to great lengths to transpose a particular era over their entire lifestyle, accoutrements and vehicle. For instance the 1950’s, Mid Century Modern, or the 1930’s. Which is admirable, looks fun. For many collectors, it’s a life’s passion.
“The issue of recycling and up-cycling is important because we are such consumer creatures,” she said. “Thank goodness for hunters and collectors, otherwise there’d be even more stuff contributing to pollution. Vintage items are preserved and loved, again and again.”
Admission is $6 each, there’s food trucks and coffee vans, an ATM onsite, and no extra charge for parking.
“The Nambour Showgrounds is weather friendly and so easy to enjoy,” said Laurie. “Small stall sites are available this time, as we are excited to be reopening upstairs and there’s a brand new elevator to make life easy!”
