Interested in playing Croquet? Get the first four games free
It’s a bit like playing snooker with a mallet on a tennis court. It’s a game requiring tactical nous and a range of subtle skills.
It’s croquet! And, best of all, it’s great fun, according to Nambour Croquet Club spokesperson Patrick Farrell who is now looking for new players. As an incentive, the club is even offering the first four games free of charge.
Located next to the Nambour Bowls Club, Nambour Croquet also has tutors who can show you the elements of the game. Mallets and all equipment is supplied.
“The benefits include being outdoors, learning coordination and playing with others who will make you feel very welcome,” said Patrick. “The games usually last for 30—45 minutes depending on the number of hoops played. All that is required is a reasonable fitness level.”
Nambour Croquet Club plays on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 8.45 to 12 noon.
Soft soled shoes need to be worn.
Mah-jong also available
Interestingly, the Club also offers a mah-jong group for anyone interested in learning the tile-based game of skill, strategy, and luck developed in 19th century China. Mah-jong is played on Monday mornings in the pleasant clubhouse from 9am till noon for just $4. “If you have never played we will be happy to teach you,” said Patrick.
