Three Nambour business have rallied together to help a boy with a rare condition and they are off to a flying fundaiser start after appearing on radio.

Organiser Kat Wilkinson from Fit Kat Bootcamp said an appearance on HOT FM Radio with Sam and Ash, to promote the August 9 massive auction and raffle event had yielded incredible results.

“I am so happy to share the incredible progress of our fundraising efforts following our recent appearance on air with Sam and Ash on Hot FM Radio.

“The community response was nothing short of amazing. We raised $8780 on the day, and we are delighted to announce that the CEO of Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital has donated a $5000 medical bed for our brave little boy to use for life.

“We always knew that the Sunshine Coast community would rally behind us, but the overwhelming and rapid response has been truly heartwarming. We cannot thank enough all the local businesses who have donated brilliant prizes for our event.”

Fit Kat Bootcamp is collaborating with fellow Price Street businesses Suncoast Mechanical and Challenge Accepted in the fundraising event to support a young boy in the community battling 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome (DiGeorge Syndrome).

Born with this rare condition, he has undergone multiple open-heart surgeries and now relies on home oxygen.

“Despite facing numerous medical procedures and limitations in physical activity, his spirit remains unbroken, and his infectious humour brings joy to all who know him,” said Kat.

The funds raised will go towards significantly improving his quality of life. His condition restricts his mobility, and Kat said the donated bed would provide much-needed comfort at home.

His family, who have looked after over 50 children alongside their own two, are known for their dedication and compassion.

The event will feature an auction, over $5000 in raffles from local businesses, and activities for adults and kids, including face painting, bootcamp, boxing, yoga, pilates, a Nerf gun battle, and laser tag.

Kat urged the community to participate or contribute in any way they can. “Every donation and act of support will make a significant difference in this boy’s life and his family’s journey,” she said.
