'My Walk For Daniel' goes virtual in 2020

Bruce and Denise Morcombe are encouraged by Woombye State School children.

Since 2005, the Daniel Morcombe Foundation has gathered with the Sunshine Coast community to Walk for Daniel. The walk follows the same path Daniel was unable to complete himself.

This year, due to COVID-19, the public will not be able to attend the Walk, so the Foundation has created My Walk for Daniel, a virtual walk event enabling Australians to participate in their own way.

Bruce said “The Walk is a fun, uplifting event, making the visual statement that crimes against children have no place in modern Australia. Supporters all over the country will be able to join with the Foundation virtually to Walk for Daniel wherever they are, from Nambour to the Nullabor, Broome to Bondi, Humpty Doo to Hobart. Denise and I will also be completing the Walk, so supporters could also sponsor us!”

The Walk for Daniel kickstarts Day for Daniel the Foundation’s national day of action for child safety education.

Denise said “This year’s Day for Daniel will have record numbers of over 4,000 schools and early learning centres across Australia registering to participate.”

This week is National Child Protection Week. To register for the October 30 Walk and help continue Daniel’s legacy of child safety across Australia  go to https://danielmorcombe.com.au/my-walk-for-daniel/
