Mill Street Kitchen owners’ first anniversary

Sonika and Prince Manbhan ... “As much as we possibly can, we use local suppliers and our food is heavily based on local, seasonal ingredients.”

Early next month, Sonika and Prince Manbhan celebrate their first anniversary as owners of Nambour’s Mill Street Kitchen and Pantry.

“We both have a background in hospitality and after I completed my business degree I decided I wanted to have a business of my own,” Sonika explained.

“We were fortunate to have been able to step into Mill Street Kitchen because we really love the area.”

Having worked in restaurants in Melbourne and Brisbane, Prince has been able to bring his culinary skill in the kitchen to Nambour.

“We are so fortunate in this area to have such beautiful fresh produce to work with,” Prince said.

“As much as we possibly can, we use local suppliers and our food is heavily based on local, seasonal ingredients. I change our menu according to what is in season so our guests can enjoy the best seasonal flavours.

“At the moment, our guests are really enjoying the three cheese gnocchi with truffle oil and goats cheese, and the meatballs and white bean sugo,” he said.

As well as the changing menu offerings, there is a fully stocked grab and go cabinet with freshly made salads and cakes which have a host of dietary options to keep everyone happy.

“We make everything here in our own kitchen,” Prince said. “All of the baking is done here and our muffins, carrot cakes and orange and almond cakes are a bit of a specialty.”

At Mill Street Kitchen, there is comfortable seating for up to 70 diners, with an outdoor deck and a very comfortable air conditioned indoor dining area. The team are able to cater for functions and have offerings that include the Sunshine Coast Farmer Plate, The Sandwich Lunch, The Grazing Board and The Long Lunch.
