Nambour & Maleny Shows back in 2021

Best of country life (and big trucks) at Maleny Show

The Maleny Show is going ahead this year and will be held at the Maleny Showgrounds on May 28 and 29.

“We are so happy that the Show is on again this year and The Maleny Show Society has been working hard to put an approved COVID Safe Industry Plan in place,” said Show Society Secretary, Lois White.

“Part of that plan involves the presale of tickets, so we are encouraging people to get in early and book. We have a brand new website where you can easily order and prepay for your tickets and there is a QR code on our website and in the ad on the back page of this paper which you can scan, and it will take you to the website to book your tickets,” she said.

This year’s Show promises fun and entertainment for the whole family, with all of the much loved and familiar features and exhibits.

“We have a sideshow alley, which kids of all ages enjoy, our Pavillion, which will be full of locally made and grown arts, crafts, baking and produce, as well as our livestock exhibits.”

“A change this year will be the night time entertainment in the Main Ring, which will be extended to two nights. We are so excited because it will be quite spectacular. KC Fireworks will be presenting Monster Trucks, a Waterscreen, laser show, and of course, fireworks. There is something for the whole family.”

Another addition to the line up this year is the Maleny Show Personality Competition.

“This is a bit of a departure from the traditional Show Girl competition,” said Lois.

Categories include Junior Maleny Show Personality, Miss Maleny Show Personality (Showgirl), Senior Maleny Show Personality 29 years and over, Junior Rural Ambassador male or female, Rural Ambassador male or female, and Senior Rural Ambassador male or female.

“This event will be held ahead of the Show, at an afternoon tea at the Maleny Orangery on Saturday, May 15,” Lois said. “You can find details to enter on our website www.malenyshowsociety.org.au

“Agricultural shows are such an important part of life in rural communities so it was extremely disappointing that we were not able to hold it last year,” Ms White said. “This year is going to be very special for everyone involved. It really does highlight all of the wonderful aspects of country life and small communities. We are looking forward to seeing lots of people coming along and enjoying what we have put together.”

25,000 expected at Nambour Show coming in June

The Sunshine Coast Show is delighted to be working hard to bring the country to the city once again to celebrate the 115th staging of the Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show at Nambour Showgrounds.

The Show will be held from Friday to Sunday, June 11-13 with Friday being the Show Holiday.

The Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show Society captures the essence of the region from the glistening coastline to the lush green hinterland. Behind the sand and grass lies a history steeped in sugarcane fields, rows of pine forests, pineapples and strawberries, and rich creamy milk and cheese from local dairies.

The Show society prides itself in highlighting the many facets of our region whilst providing affordable entertainment for the whole family.

All the unique Sunshine Coast Show traditions such as the much-loved competitions, animals, food, sideshow alley, showbags and entertainment will be back while ensuring a cost-effective approach in our comeback year.

Organisers have had to undertake some changes in the layout of the grounds in order to handle our expected crowds of 25,000 over three days. “We are committed to delivering those traditional and unique Sunshine Coast Show experiences that the public and our exhibitors come back for year after year,” a spokesperson said.

“We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show in 2021.”
