Maleny Golf Course extended to 18 holes

Maleny Golf Club supporters Bettie and George Diefenbach, club vice-president Max Whitten, and Member for Fisher Andrew Wallace at the official opening of the new holes.

THE final six of the Maleny Golf Course’s 18 holes have been opened.

The course opened with 12 holes in 2015 but has been extended with the help of a $200,000 federal government grant.

The club has sought to remain faithful to the original low environmental impact design by golf architect Graham Papworth, which incorporates and preserves wetlands and native flora.

Speaking at the official opening, Member for Fisher Andrew Wallace said the extended course would help aspiring golfers pursue their dreams and attract visitors to the area to play in the picturesque surroundings.

“These final six holes are the culmination of an incredible community effort over more than 15 years, and with the support of the federal government this completed course is going to be a huge asset for people of all ages in the hinterland,” Mr Wallace said.
