Marty Hunt MP joined Shadow Minister for Sport and Racing John-Paul Langbroek at Nambour Yandina Soccer Club recently to announce an elected LNP Government will commit $905,000 in funding for club house upgrades.

Mr Hunt said that Yandina is a growing area and the soccer club is in great need of new facilities.

“In my audit of local community and sporting facilities this club came forward with important upgrades needed for disability access, change rooms, admin areas and first aid.

“They have done a lot of hard work getting the project ready and I approached the Shadow Minister to see if we could commit to assisting them financially.  Fortunately, we were able to and I welcome his visit to make this exciting announcement for our community.”

“The LNP is 100 per cent behind community sport,” Mr Langbroek said. “We know just how important grass roots participation is for community members, and for the health and fitness of our young people, as well as those young at heart.

“This grant will allow more people to access the facilities and get the benefits of being active and participating in community activities.”

The club’s proposal outlined the project and the benefits it would provide:

Project

• Upgrade to Clubhouse and Change Room Facilities

• Increase number of Change Rooms from 2 to 6, having 3 Home and 3 Away Change Rooms

• Provide Disabled access to Club House, Change Rooms, and Toilets, including the provision of a Disabled Toilet/Shower facility (currently non-existent)

• To provide dedicated administration and First Aid rooms within the Clubhouse

• To provide safe and secure storage of Club Equipment, including kitchen and bar stock

Benefits to the Club and Wider Community

• The creation of 4 extra Change Rooms will allow greater participation of all levels of football

• Female Football is growing Nationally and, in particular, within our Club and this would allow for dedicated female change room/toilet facilities

• This would provide Sunshine Coast Football another magnificent facility allowing the Club to host Final Series, Women of • Football Tournament, Junior Carnival Days, Inter-School competitions, training facilities for visiting Inter-state/National/International teams.

• Yandina Markets use the Club house facilities every Saturday and the inclusion of disabled facilities and disabled-friendly access will be of great benefit to market patrons

• Improved Clubhouse facilities will allow for increased venue hire for able and disabled groups and parties
