Lily House Fete to support women in crisis

Lily House Business Manager Jo Higgins and Case Manager Donna Hart are getting set for the Fete to be held at Ignite Community Hall in Short Street.

Lily House is inviting the community to come together on Saturday November 16 for their annual fundraiser fete in Nambour from 9am to 12.30pm.

The event at the Ignite Community hall, next to Jetts Gym, in Short Street, promises to be a delightful mix of family fun, local treasures, and an opportunity to support an organisation making a real difference in the lives of women in crisis.

Lily House Business Manager Jo Higgins emphasised the importance of community support for this event. “We really need as many people as possible to join us at the fete,” Ms Higgins said. “It’s a day for everyone to come together, enjoy some great food, browse quality items, and ultimately support a cause that has a lasting impact on women and families in our community.”

The Lily House fete will feature a variety of items for sale, including high-quality new wooden toys, scooters for toddlers, and pre-loved baby clothing and accessories. Visitors can also browse baked goods, books, craft items, and bric-a-brac while enjoying a classic sausage sizzle.

In addition to these goodies, there will also be a special guest for young ones—Ambo Stace will be on-site with an ambulance, providing children a hands-on tour of how paramedics work, helping reduce anxiety about emergency services in a fun and educational way.

“Stace will be there to show the kids the ins and outs of an ambulance. It’s a great way for children to feel less intimidated if they ever need an ambulance,” Ms Higgins added.

Lily House has been an essential lifeline for women in crisis in South East Queensland, providing accommodation and support for young mothers, victims of domestic violence, and those recovering from substance abuse. Every dollar raised at the fete will go directly towards helping Lily House continue its vital work in providing supported accommodation and empowering women to rebuild their lives.

“We’re passionate about the work we do,” Ms Higgins said. “The fete is a chance to celebrate that, raise much-needed funds, and have some fun along the way.”

Everyone is encouraged to drop by the Ignite Community hall, at 29 Short Street to support this worthy cause, do a bit of early Christmas shopping, and enjoy a wonderful community event. All proceeds from the fete will go directly to ensuring Lily House can continue to provide love and support to those who need it most.
