Simmo Braun, pictured above in Nambour last week, is a Central Coast father on an extraordinary journey to visit every blood donor centre in Australia as part of “The Bloody Good Tour.” His mission? To save thousands of lives and inspire Australians to donate blood or plasma, particularly those who have never done so before.

Simmo and his children are traveling around the country in a caravan, donating plasma every fortnight. Simmo hopes to show how donating blood not only saves lives but also improves the donor’s mental well-being. Lifeblood research reveals that 4 in 5 donors feel a positive impact on their mental health, and 1 in 4 feel energised after donating.

“While I haven’t personally needed blood, last year I faced some personal challenges, and regular blood donation helped me manage my mental health,” Simmo said. “It lifted my spirits and made me feel connected to something bigger. I want people to know that doing good feels good—donating blood is a great way to help others and improve your own well-being.”

Lifeblood spokesperson Rebecca Ind supported Simmo’s message, sharing that donors overwhelmingly report feeling better after donating blood. She also noted that blood demand is at a 10-year high, with plasma demand higher than ever.
