Kenilworth Artsfest coming next month

The Kenilworth ArtsFest will be held this year from 25 September to 4 October, Covid permitting.

The key feature of the ArtsFest is the art competition in the Kenilworth Hall from 1 to 4 October, with handsome prizes on offer.

The Kenilworth Painting Prize of $7500 is always popular with entries now open. The Open Painting Prizes, Open 3D Prizes, Encouragement Award and People’s Choice  are worth nearly $5000.

“All artists are invited to go to our KAC webpage (www.kenilwortharts.org.au) where you will find the entry forms and all the information,” said Kenilworth Arts Council Secretary Adrienne Jensen.

“It’s a great chance to showcase your work and all works are for sale.”

Adrienne said entry forms were also available at some local information centres, art groups and galleries.

The ArtsFest itself starts with a Chinese Brush Strokes workshop by Stephen Cassettari on 25 and 26 September in the Reception Room at Kenilworth Historical Museum.

Then on Sunday, 26 September, the Sunshine Coast Symphony Orchestra will present a delightful concert of “Great Russian and German Masterpieces”.

“To round off this enjoyable afternoon, Kenilworth Arts Council will provide all sorts of tasty bites at a High Tea,” said Adrienne.

There is also a Poetry Competition at the ArtsFest with entry forms at www.kenilwortharts.org.au.

The winner of the Bush Poetry section is invited to recite the poem at the Poets’ Brunch at Kenilworth Hall on Saturday morning 2 October. To add  a dash of toe tapping music the Ukes on Fire from Caloundra will play their bright and breezy melodies.

“Kenilworth ArtsFest is now in its 24th year and welcomes artists and visitors from the Sunshine Coast and beyond,” said Adrienne. “While in Kenilworth you can enjoy the delights of our lovely town – the rural scenery, the range of wonderful foods, fascinating boutiques, the markets in the park and above all - the friendly people.”

• Artists visit www.kenilwortharts.org.au for details and entry forms.

2019s Kenilworth Art Award Winner was Helen Coulter’s “The Long Day”.
