Gut feeling prompts a more natural approach to health

Having experienced ongoing poor health throughout her childhood, Landsborough Kinesiologist and Functional Nutritionist, Rochelle Voysey understands first hand the pain and frustration that comes when pharmaceutically based medicine is unable to provide effective strategies to alleviate symptoms and address the underlying causes of many chronic health issues.

“I was a sickly child and had lots of issues with allergies and sensitivities,” Rochelle said. “My mum did an amazing job of trying to get to the bottom of it, but after years of relentless tests and treatments, we ended up at a Naturopath who helped us to better understand what was happening. At the time it was the last resort for us, and it was also the only place I found answers and relief.”

The experience of moving to a natural approach armed Rochelle with an appreciation of food as medicine, and she knew that she could help others to address long term health issues via a dietary approach. Rochelle completed a BSc of Nutrition, with a strong focus on biomedical science, and while this was a starting point for her, she still felt that there were pieces of the puzzle still missing.

“My exploration of Reiki and Kinesiology represented a huge turning point in my own health journey,” Rochelle said. “Because it has been so powerful for me, I knew I could use it in combination with my education in nutrition and dietetics, to help others who are suffering with chronic health conditions. Both Reiki and Kinesiology are incredibly gentle and nurturing practices and I also use acupressure, bodywork, and nutrition and lifestyle therapies to help my clients release trauma and pain.”

Rochelle set up her practice, Rewilded Health and the name is indicative of her approach to health. “The name was inspired after I watched a David Attenborough documentary about how wolves were reinstated into a severely degraded national park in the US,” Rochelle said. “When the apex predators were reintroduced to the park, the entire environment regenerated and the delicate natural balance was restored. All species thrived. “Restoring the natural balance to the physical, emotional and spiritual bodies is such an integral part of healing. We can often get stuck believing that our bodies are somehow working against us, but, in reality, they’re asking – often screaming! – for help. All we have to do is stop and listen.”

“We are learning so much about the importance of gut health and the vital balance of microbes in the gut,” she said. “I blend the wisdom of holistic and nutritional therapies with evidence-based practice to help my clients uncover the underlying cause of disease, rebalance the body and regenerate health and vitality.”

Rochelle can assist with issues such as hormone, thyroid balance and metabolism, autoimmunity and detoxification, chronic stress, fatigue and adrenals, trauma recovery and mental health, and gut and digestion issues.

“My services include functional testing and analysis and I love helping people bring together the pieces of their story in order to understand the origins of their ailments and move beyond them.”
