Frankie’s at Woombye has been named in Urban List’s Top 50 Cafes on the Sunshine Coast For the third year in a row.

“We feel so humbled to have been recognised again this year,” said owner, Rebecca Galler. “Urban List is so widely used as a reference for what is good and if you get a mention, I think you are definitely on the right track.”

Rebecca took over the cafe on the 19th of July, 2019 and despite the uncertainty brought about by COVID during her first couple of years of trade, Frankie’s has gone from strength to strength and has cemented itself in Woombye as a destination for great coffee, food, and community.

“So much goes on behind the scenes to create the vibe and the offering, that people are not aware of,” Rebecca said. “As a child growing up, family gatherings involved the making and sharing of great food and to me, this business is an extension of that heartfelt hospitality that I experienced in childhood.

“Being hospitable to others is about more than simply combining ingredients to make a dish. The intention, energy and love that goes into cooking and baking contributes to the end experience of the dish and it allows us to connect with our customers through food,” she said.

“I always tell my staff that we treat others as we want to be treated because you never know what people have going on in their lives. I am blessed to have incredible staff around me who are more inclined to kill our customers with kindness. We might make 200 coffees in a day, but for each customer, they will only experience one cup. So we want that to be the best experience for them that it can possibly be.

“It has been a good few years and while it is lovely to have received this recognition, we are always reflecting on what we do and looking for ways to be better.”
