Flaxton Gardens to host Sculpture on the Edge

Last year’s Sculpture on the Edge.

Sculpture on the Edge, Sunshine Coast is an immersive art and food event to be enjoyed by all. This year, the Sculpture on the Edge (SOTE) Arts Connect Incorporated’s annual sculpture competition is being held in the stunning grounds of Flaxton Gardens.

“The views here are absolutely breathtaking and guests can look over the whole Sunshine Coast,” said Marketing and Sales Manager Marlene Murray.

“This year, visitors can enjoy a pre-ordered picnic box to enjoy in the grounds, or dine in for two sittings per day,” she said.

“We have opened early bird pre-paid sittings for our set dine in menu for individual bookings and tour groups. We are also taking pre-paid picnic pack bookings for tour and group bookings,” said Mrs Murray.

“It is the perfect way to enjoy delicious food in a gorgeous setting, surrounded by art. It promises to be a very special experience.”

The competition itself will include indoor and outdoor sculptures across a variety of media and the winner will receive the $10,000 first prize, generously donated by Flaxton Gardens.

Sculpture on the Edge will open on the evening of Saturday the 19th of November and run until the closing event on the afternoon of Sunday the 4th of December.

“The exhibition is free and open to the public from 9am to 3pm daily and Flaxton Gardens will have a variety of refreshments available,” Mrs Murray said.

Now in its 12th year, Sculpture on the Edge continues to grow. Thanks to generous support from sponsors, donors and event partners, Flaxton Gardens, Arts Connect Inc can deliver an outstanding cultural experience to art lovers and visitors to the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

Arts Connect Inc is a volunteer run, membership based not for profit group generously supported by the Sunshine Coast Council, Sponsors and private donors.

Tax deductible donations can be made through Sunshine Coast Arts Foundation.

“There will also be a fabulous arts dinner on the 26th of November which will be ticketed via Arts Connect and we will let you know the release date for that exclusive event,” said Mrs Murray.

“But for pre-bookings you can call 5445 7450 between Wednesday and Sunday to secure your booking.”
