Farm Gym Fitness challenge to raise money for charity

The Farm Gym team take the Grindstone challenge in preparation for Saturday’s event.

People of all fitness levels will put their bodies to the grindstone on Saturday in a challenge to raise funds for vulnerable women and kids.

‘Run in Her Shoes’ is a charity event where participants walk, run and race together to raise funds and awareness for local charity Lily House.

The event was the brainchild of four women who completed laps of Nambour’s Farm Gym obstacle course over 14 hours in 2019.

That event raised $6000 and Farm Gym Director Acacia Harvison hopes to build on that momentum this Saturday (July 24) from 7am by offering people of varying fitness levels the chance to be involved with the very first ‘The Grindstone’ race .

“We are so excited to bring light to vulnerable women and families who need extra support and encouragement,” said Acacia.

“We truly love supporting Lily House. They are an incredible organisation doing such important work within our community.

“People are welcome to come and join us as we walk, run or race together. The  aim is to shine a light in times of darkness for women and children on the Sunshine Coast.

“We’ve already had an epic response to this event which means it’s going to be so meaningful and fun to work together.”

Acacia said the key to the challenge was its accessibility to people of all fitness levels.

“You can bring some friends and have a chat along the way, have a crack on the obstacles or just walk on by. Or you can race against the rest and test what you’ve got and compete the full 9km course.”
