Nicklin MP Rob Skelton has announced a $1 million election commitment to support the expansion of Nambour's Everyday Foundation, a vital community organisation providing low-cost groceries and essential services to vulnerable families. If re-elected in the October 26 election, Mr Skelton has promised the funds to help the foundation grow its operations and relocate from its current Howard Street premises to a larger, more accessible location on Currie Street.

The Everyday Foundation, which runs an affordable supermarket, meal programs, and school pantry initiatives, is a lifeline for many locals facing cost-of-living pressures. Mr Skelton, speaking at the Nambour location alongside Minister for Agricultural Industry Development, Mark Furner, said the investment was part of Labor’s broader strategy to relieve pressure on households.

“I know cost of living is having a huge impact on local families, and that’s something we’re tackling head-on,” Mr Skelton said. “We are so lucky to have an organisation like the Everyday Foundation here in Nambour, standing up for vulnerable Queenslanders. I’m proud to back them with a $1 million commitment so they can expand and support more Nicklin locals.”

The Everyday Foundation’s new premises will provide more space to extend their services to a growing number of people in need. Mr Skelton underscored the significance of the Foundation’s work, calling it a crucial part of the community’s safety net.

Minister Furner said the Queensland Government was committed to backing grassroots organisations like the Everyday Foundation. “Queenslanders are best known for providing a helping hand in times of need,” Minister Furner said. “We’re doing what matters to support organisations offering this support, like Everyday Foundation, backed by $1 million if our government is elected.

“This commitment wouldn’t be possible without the advocacy of Rob Skelton, who fights for his community each and every day.

Lead Pastor Jonathan Gullo, who leads Suncoast Care and the Everyday Foundation, welcomed the funding pledge. “The Everyday Foundation’s goal is to support people in need and help transform lives.

“This commitment means we will be able to serve more people as our programs can expand with our new larger and more prominent space.

“Thank you to Rob Skelton for making this commitment to support us, and support more vulnerable families in our community.”

With funding promises from both the ALP and LNP of an expanded and more prominent space for The Everyday Foundation, the organisation will continue playing a pivotal role in supporting families across the hinterland.
