The Nambour Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star is a small group of like-minded men and women who follow a tradition of love, friendship and caring for others.

They meet regularly in the Masonic Centre at Woombye and each year they try to donate to a worthwhile local cause.

This year they chose Woombye State School’s library.

“The $500 will go towards projects encouraging students to interact with each other while in the library,” said Order of the Eastern Star spokesperson Jill Peck.

“We had a delightful time with the school and were so impressed with the care and enthusiasm of all we met while there.  Paul Lowik is very proud of the 137-year-old school and its ethics and is a great example to both students and staff.”

About The Order of the Eastern Star

The Order of the Eastern Star  is non-denominational and non-sectarian but the principles and values shared by members, are based on stories from the Old and New Testament, and are designed to make a profound and lasting impression upon all to whom they are addressed. The centre-piece in every Chapter Room is an Altar.  When the Chapter is in session an open Bible rests on top.  The Bible is open at Chapter 2 in the Book of Matthew in the Christian Bible.  This Chapter relates the story of the first Christmas and the three wise men who travelled to meet and worship the baby Jesus.  In that narrative, the wise men followed a bright star in the sky to help them find the birthplace of the baby Jesus.  That bright star is called the Eastern Star, and represents the inspiration for the name of our Order.
