When a year 7 boy’s bike was stolen outside CNR Candy and Sweets in Nambour, owners Rob and Casey Harkness decided to take action. 

What followed was an outpouring of community support on social media, but still the bike was never recovered, leaving young Kurt devastated. But that didn't stop the Harknesses.

“We decided to buy Kurt a new bike,” Casey said. “It was a tough lesson learned, and we didn’t want him to be without his wheels.”

Rob added: “We’d like to say thank you to the people who went out and searched for the bike and to Nambour for being such an awesome little town.”

The owners of CNR Candy and Sweets said they were overwhelmed by the support they received on the Living in Nambour Facebook page for their gesture.

“I usually get the kids to put their bikes in front of the window so we can keep an eye on them, so they’re safe,” Rob said. “But on this occasion, I didn’t, so it was most unfortunate.”
