As the name suggests, the Sanctuary Park Church of Christ grounds offer “a peaceful, tranquil, welcoming environment”.

And anyone who has spent time there will attest that this intention has been truly achieved.

The Sanctuary Park Church of Christ facilities are nestled within a sub-tropical valleyed setting on 13.5 acres in Nambour.

The facilities consist of a glazed featured auditorium that celebrates its surroundings, a Family Centre, a large two storey Shed (ideal for youth work) and an Education Centre which also houses the Sanctuary Park Op Shop and Drop-in Centre.

The two Ministers, Pastor Steve Nixon and Pastor Mark Wall, bring a wealth of experience to both the Sanctuary Park Church community and the community at large.

In line with their commitment to the local community, the Sanctuary Park Church of Christ is a supporter of The Shack in Nambour.

It also provides Chaplaincy and offers professional Christian-based services to clients of all ages and backgrounds, aimed at personal development and growth.

“The church has the Christian responsibility to respond to the evolving needs of its community,” explained Pastor Steve.

In recent years, the church has expanded its work to include live streaming of church services (which are available on YouTube and the Church’s Facebook page),

It also offers the following services:

• a community-based Mainly Music program, designed to engage children from 0-5 years in music, dance and creative play;

• an open to any fella ‘Blokes Coffee and Chips Group’ at Cosy Creek Café;

Women on Wednesday (a fortnightly group for women);

• the Drop in Space; and

• the much loved Sanctuary Park Op Shop

Community program providers also use space within the Education Centre for industry training programs and youth at risk support and training.

The Sanctuary Park Church also seeks to assist vulnerable people in overseas countries to break the cycle of poverty. They partner with communities across the world in education, health, safe water, and livelihood initiatives.

In 2021, the church held a Garage Sale to raise funds for Medical Santo Hospital in Vanuatu. In total, with donations and a Church of Christ Missions Grant, a sum of $22,000 was raised.

Pop Up Garage Sale

This year they are planning a Pop Up Garage Sale, over three days, June 2-4 from 8.30am to 1.30pm, in conjunction with the Op Shop.

It will include wood turning display and sales, hot drinks and an Aladdin’s Cave of treasures in the grounds at Shed 22. Funds will be raised for Community Disaster Relief, with the focus currently on assisting those affected by the floods. They have really appreciated the community’s donations and support of these events.

The Sanctuary Park Church of Christ is located at 22 National Park Road, Nambour. You can learn more about their philosophies and work at www.spcofcn.org.au, as well as on Facebook, and expect to be warmly welcomed when attending their 9 am Sunday church service.
