The 150 year celebration of the gazetting of Yandina in 2020 was disrupted by the Covid 19 virus but this didn’t stop the intrepid committee who were charged with  capturing “A Day In The Life of Yandina”. 

This included ‘letters to the future’ where students from North Arm and Yandina State Schools wrote to the generation of students in 2070. 

The whole collection was proposed to be put into a time capsule and reopened in 50 years. But, as happens with the best laid plans, adjustments were required with the effects of the virus.  As required of all community minded organisations, Yandina Art and Framing stepped up and answered the call. 

A request was made by the committee to frame the pictures and letters and present them for public display in front of the time capsule. 

The highly trained artisans put together an admirable three panel set which was recently delivered to committee chair David Tidey. 

“We were all very pleased to be able to contribute to the local community in a practical way,” said Yandina Art and Framing proprietor Bill Gissane.

 “I must admit we all had a bit of chuckle with some of the children’s letters to their counterparts in the future. We’re sure they will enjoy what they wrote in 70 years’ time. The total retail value of the work was over $1500 and the committee were most gracious in receiving the completed articles.”
