Maleny’s Baha’i community is inviting residents to join a local, national and global conversation about building vibrant and purposeful communities at a conference this Saturday (March 26) at Maleny Showgrounds.

The local event is one of over 80 similar “World Conferences” to be held across Australia. 

“The goal is to provide an opportunity for participants to engage in fun yet purposeful dialogue as we all work towards creating a community that is vibrant, inclusive and nurturing of our children,” said organiser Susan Foy. 

Susan said the conference aimed to draw out and share the aspirations of children, youth and parents. 

“As the Sunshine Coast Council is currently seeking feedback on the proposed vision and planning directions for our region, we may decide to make a collective submission,” she said.

“The program is interactive, incorporating arts with dialogue and panel discussion.”

The Baha’i Faith is an independent world religion that arose out of the matrix of Islam in Iran, much as Christianity emerged from the matrix of Judaism. 

It is not a sect or denomination of Islam or any other religion. It is a modern, independent, monotheistic religion established in virtually every country of the world.In the middle of the 19th century—one of the most turbulent periods in the world’s history—a young nobleman announced that he was the bearer of a message destined to transform the life of humanity. He took the title Bahá’u’lláh. 

With his call for spiritual and moral reformation, and his attention to improving the position of women and the lot of the poor, this prescription for spiritual renewal was revolutionary. 

Today, his life and mission are becoming increasingly well-known across the planet. Millions of people are learning to apply his teachings to their individual and collective lives.

Conference Details: 

The Pavilion, Maleny Showgrounds Saturday, March 26. The event is free to all, though there will be opportunities to make a contribution if so desired.  Interactive craft activities are available for the children and junior youth programs.
