Stunning Mapleton home shortlisted for 2024 international architecture award

Strategically recessed twin buildings establish visual connections with the prominent natural features of Mt. Ninderry and Mt. Coolum.

Hinterland residence, Mapleton House, has been shortlisted for an internationally recognised architecture competition.

The Dezeen Awards highlight the best in global architecture, interiors, and design, and receiving a nomination is considered a significant achievement in the industry.

Designed by Queensland-based architecture firm Atelier Chen Hung, Mapleton House showcases a minimalist, modern design that harmonises with its natural scenic surroundings. The home is recognised for its innovative use of materials and integration with the environment.

The 2024 Dezeen Awards, organised by the architecture and design website Dezeen, are known for honouring architectural excellence worldwide. This year’s competition includes a strong Australian presence, with several other homes across the country also making the longlist.

Winners of the Dezeen Awards will be announced later this year. The awards recognise a wide range of design disciplines, from residential projects like Mapleton House to public and commercial architecture.
