The Sunshine Coast Hinterland came alive on Sunday as the Maleny Showgrounds played host to the 2025 Hinterland Aussie Day Expo, bringing the community together for a morning of celebration, fun and tradition.

The event kicked off with the popular Apex Big Breakfast at 7am, providing a free hearty meal to all attendees. At 8am, a flag-raising ceremony set the stage for one of the day’s highlights – a special Citizenship Ceremony, where MP Andrew Wallace officially welcomed new Australians into the community.

From 9am to noon, the Australia Day Expo showcased the many clubs and activities that make Maleny such a vibrant place to live. Families enjoyed fun games, live demonstrations from local clubs, and a passport sticker competition with prizes.  

Adding to the atmosphere, Maleny’s intrepid photographer Marsha Lindenthall was on hand to capture photos from the day, ensuring special moments were preserved.
