Zingy pairing a match made in flavour heaven

Locals will no doubt be familiar with the tasty food offerings at cafe, bar and BBQ joint, The Village Pickle, but most will not know that co-owner Brendan Chan spent 14 years as a commercial brewer before opening The Village Pickle last year with his partner Jaimi.

Brendan took his knowledge of fermentation and focussed it on food and hot sauce instead of beer. “I still have  a lot of love and passion for the craft beer community and the people in it, especially in South East Queensland,” Brendan said. “Over the years I have made some strong connections all around Australia and even in New Zealand.”

Recently, Brendan joined his mate Satoshi (from Black Hops Brewing on the Gold Coast), to catch up and make a beer.  “We decided to partner up on a collaboration beer and hot sauce, which are designed to go with burgers and each other!” said Brendan.

The resulting beer is a tasty West Coast IPA with choice Australian malt and dank fruity hops. The Village Pickle will be the only venue outside of Black Hops Brewing to have this special release beer on tap. It will also be available to purchase as a 4 pack/hot sauce combo from both venues. “We are really excited about how this has all come together and we are looking forward to sharing it with our customers,” Brendan said.
