Maleny, Montville named  in Top 10 Most Welcoming Destinations

Now we can really say everyone is welcomed with open arms, because two Sunshine Coast hinterland towns have been named in the Top 10 Most Welcoming Destinations in Australia for 2021.

Booking.com dug deep into the customer reviews, climbed every mountain and slept in every hotel room and decided Maleny was the Most Welcoming Destination of 2021. Meanwhile Range rivals Montville came in at number 5.

Most Welcoming Destinations of 2021

1. MALENY, Qld

2. Denmark, WA

3. Hervey Bay, Qld

4. Margaret River Town, WA

5. MONTVILLE, Qld

6. Rockhampton, Qld

7. Mildura, Vic

8. Bendigo, Vic

9. Tanunda, SA

10. Mount Tamborine, Qld

The results came as no surprise to Hinterland Tourism President Kerry Brown.

“The Sunshine Coast Hinterland is a rare gem in that most businesses are family owned and operated so guests do enjoy that extra special attention,” she said.

“It is the owner who welcomes guests as they check into their accommodation and is quick to share the best Hinterland secrets.

“Many visitors return again and again to savour culinary delights at fine dining houses and boutique cafes or experience the stunning natural beauty, while others are just happy to find the peace and tranquillity.

“It is the Hinterland people who really do welcome each and every guest into the region.”

Div 5 Cr Winston Johnston also said he was not surprised by the news.

“The Hinterland towns embraced Tourism in the 1990s as a compliment for agriculture industries which were slowly diminishing in size and numbers.

“It is a credit to all the people from the Chambers of Commerce, the arts, craft and hospitality industries, that they have worked hard to offer a unique experience while at the same time understanding the value of a friendly face and a heartfelt welcome.”

Montville Chamber of Commerce President Shiralee Cooper said Montville was a natural choice. “Montville has certainly put out the welcome mat. We cherish our guests, visitors and locals. Our exceptional accommodation venues, hospitality and retail businesses are all delighted to greet new guests and welcome those returning,” she said.
