Russian concert pianist to perform at Montville

Maestro Shamray will perform a solo program on March 14 in the Lucas Parklands concert hall, regarded by many as one of the finest performance spaces of its size in the world.

Siberian-born international classical pianist Konstantin Shamray will perform at Montville in the first performance of Lucas Parklands’ 2021 “Keeping the Music Going” concert series.

Konstantin is a world class pianist, with his skills described as “faultless and fearless” following performances with the world’s leading orchestras.

Maestro Shamray will perform a solo program from 4pm on March 14 in the Lucas Parklands concert hall, regarded by many as one of the finest performance spaces of its size in the world. It is set amongst the beauty of Sunshine Coast Hinterland rainforest, featuring soft lighting and large windows that enhance the natural backdrop of this acoustically brilliant and intimate room.

Ian Lucas, of Lucas Parklands, said the Shamray appearance is wonderful for the Hinterland region and would energise the community and Lucas Parklands.

“This concert is the first in a series we have decided to host to ‘Keep the Music Going’, to make sure classical performances don’t fade away due to the hardships and disruptions of the Covid pandemic – we are taking proactive steps to ensure live performances of beautiful music are allowed to thrive,” Mr Lucas said.

“Konstantin Shamray is a truly wonderful talent, his playing captivates and holds your attention from his first note to his last, we are excited and proud to have him perform at Lucas Parklands.”

In 2008, Konstantin became first and only competitor in the 40 years of the Sydney International Piano Competition to win both the First Prize and the People’s Choice Prize, in addition to six other prizes. He won First Prize at the 2011 Klavier Olympiade in Bad Kissingen, Germany. In 2013, following chamber recitals with Alban Gerhardt and Feng Ning, he was awarded the festival’s coveted Luitpold Prize for “outstanding musical achievements”.
