“This business is an absolute labour of love for me, but I am extremely particular about the experience my guests have during their stay,” said owner Cindy Smith. 

Cindy said guests to her Yandina Creek escape were typically looking for peace, quiet and tranquillity. “And they get exactly that,” she said. 

“From every vantage point, you see mountains, trees, birds and wildlife. It is a little pocket of paradise that is very well hidden from the stresses of the world. 

“From the deck, you look across to Mt Ninderry and we have just installed a private outdoor bathroom under the deck, where you can go and relax in a bubble bath, sip wine and get lost in the peace. It is blissful.”

Silhouette Cottage is coming up to its second birthday and from day one Cindy was determined that her guests would enjoy a luxury experience.

On arrival guests enjoy a tour of the property so that they can take advantage of its many features. “Our guests are greeted with fresh flowers and there is complimentary champagne, a selection of beautiful teas, coffee, bedside chocolates and a home baked loaf of bread with butter and jam for them to enjoy,” said Cindy.

Luxurious freshly ironed bed linens, robes, slippers, and personal toiletries are standard and games, puzzles and a selection of classic DVD’s all combine to create an experience that nourishes and soothes all the senses.

The cottage has two bedrooms and can comfortably accommodate 5 people. Children are welcome and there is a travel cot for guests with infants.

Silhouette Cottage has become popular with couples who want a romantic getaway. Cindy is working with a company in Brisbane who  brings an arbour, cushions and candles to a special site in the garden. 

“It is the perfect spot for a surprise proposal, an engagement, an anniversary celebration or even an intimate wedding or elopement,” Cindy said. “The kitchen lends itself to in-house catering for just such events.”

Cindy is very happy to play chauffeur, at no additional cost for guests who are attending weddings at local venues, or meals at the popular nearby Spirit House.

Silhouette Cottage is ranked 9.7 on Booking.com, which is a testament to its popularity. 

Cindy is also a “Super Host” on Airbnb.  “I am quite chuffed that this is the case because I think it is a reflection of the enjoyment our guests find here. However, it is useful for people to know that booking directly with us is better because they will save quite a bit of money in booking and cleaning fees. There is no risk booking directly with us as all payments made are fully refundable if a cancellation is needed due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

“In my mind, Silhouette Cottage was always going to be a luxurious, nourishing and restorative experience for my guests,” said Cindy. “When I read beautiful reviews or guests tell me how much they have loved this little piece of paradise, it makes the hard work worthwhile. It truly makes my heart sing.”
