New haven for gamers opens in Nambour

Gaming has been an “absolute passion of 30 years” for the owner of  Heretics Haven, in Nambour, which opens Saturday.

“I have travelled all around the country gaming, made lifelong friends and connections and had a great deal of fun,” said David Harris. “When I decided to open Heretics Haven, I wanted to create that same opportunity for local people of all ages.”

David has had previous careers in retail and commercial construction, which has given him the experience to do just that. “I have been part of set ups of brand new Department Stores from scratch so I have a pretty good feel for what people want and how to most effectively organise a space. But I have to say, setting up this business has been the most challenging thing I have ever done!”

Together with his wife, Tamara Brown, their children and some close friends, David has put together a unique gaming space. “Our audience is anyone from the age of 6, to 106 and all other ages too,” said David. “This is an eclectic mix of games for everyone.”

Heretics Haven stocks tabletop games, board games and card games for families, adults and kids. In particular, David has set up a space for hobbyists. “We have 12 tables set up for people to come and enjoy. It’s a fantastic space for Wargames and Role Playing Games enthusiasts,” David said.

“There is also a room for private hire and I think it will be an awesome space for birthday parties and for kids and adults alike to get together with other like minded individuals.”

Heretics Haven carries three major paint ranges, the Games Workshop Citadel range, the Army Painter Warpaints and the SMS modelling range, along with all the accessories to accompany painting.

“I am excited by this opportunity to provide a space which brings passionate and like minded people together, away from screens, to meet new people, make new friends and create lifetime memories,” said David. “Opening right before Christmas will help friends and family of gamers to pick up some fantastic Christmas gifts as well.”

• Heretics Haven opens  Saturday December 5 from 10am-10pm.Chadwick Chambers Building, 91 Currie Street, Nambour. Phone 5338 8919.
