Mural art brightens Drop-In & Op Shop

Izzy works on her vibrant mural at her Op Shop

Brilliant yellow flowers with butterflies now adorn the walls of Drop-In & Op Shop at 22 National Park Road, thanks to local artist Isabelle Heaton & Street Art Nambour.

“We have always had a peaceful welcoming space for people who drop in for a cuppa and chat,” said Op Shop team member, Sande Bamford, “but now there is an excitement we hadn’t expected, thanks to Izzy’s vibrant mural.”

Tucked away, up a lane between Sanctuary Park Church of Christ and Gregson & Weight, there’s ample off-street parking and a welcome smile on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Drop-In & Op Shop provides good quality preloved clothing, manchester and bric-a-brac at reasonable prices with proceeds helping people in Nambour.

Hampers are available to bless those in need and local service providers are invited to contact the Church office, 5441 2833, when they have a client who would benefit from receiving a hamper of kitchenware or bedlinen.

With a sewing space soon to be available for those who need to use a sewing machine to do their own repairs, and learn to sew classes available, there is more to this Op Shop than most.

“What is desperately needed is someone who can service our collection of sewing machines,” said Sande.

“When people heard we were planning to offer free learn to sew classes we were inundated with sewing machines. It was overwhelming support, but some haven’t seen the light of day for a long time, and they would benefit from a good going over. Perhaps someone reading this can help.”

Open Tuesday and Thursday 9.30am-1.30pm, you are most welcome to drop in, admire Izzy’s artwork, browse the Op Shop and say hello to our team of volunteers. We look forward to meeting you. Perhaps you will stay for a cuppa.
