Historic arcade game finds new home at Sunshine Coast Pinball
The newest attraction at Sunshine Coast Pinball is incredible. This vintage penny arcade game was hand built in the Great Depression to entertain visitors to the Shorncliffe Pier in Brisbane. You need to use original pennies to play it.
“It’s a genuine piece of Australian arcade history,” said owner Vaughan Jones. “At 91 years old it represents the birth of coin operated arcade entertainment and after just one attempt you’ll discover why it lasted so long!
“It has a shallow rule set but is super hard to master.
“If coin-operated amusement could survive in the Great Depression, it can certainly survive today.”
• Two pennys costs one token at Sunshine Coast Pinball open Tuesday-Sunday from 11am. Closed Monday.
