Shopping and medical centre gets go-ahead for Forest Glen
A multimillion-dollar shopping and medical centre will transform Forest Glen into a vibrant village precinct, according to developer Tony Riddle of Sancus Property.
“This will be amazing for Forest Glen,” Mr Riddle said.
“It will make the place a true destination. People are escaping the cities and heading for the hinterland and Forest Glen is a natural growth hub, along with places like Yandina and Bli Bli.”
Forest Glen Village Centre will be a retail and shopping precinct, he said, with an IGA Supermarket as the anchor tenant.
Michael and Roz White of Whites IGA will open their sixth Sunshine Coast store on the 6.6ha site at Mons Road. The site offers 15,500sq m of mixed retail, commercial and industrial space.
Mr Riddle said the Village would be a win-win for existing and new businesses in the area and help strengthen community ties in the area, which is growing steadily.
IGA would employ about 80 people, said Mr White. “The Village will create an ideal meeting place for locals to gather and network,” he said.
Construction is set to start mid-2021 with completion in 2022.
The Centre will also offer a craft brewery, hairdresser, bottle shop and eating precinct.
