Maleny residents will have even more reason to shop local after the Chamber of Commerce launched its enterprising Eftpos Gift Card at Maleny RSL on July 16.

More than 50 businesses attended the event to support the business community as well as Div 5 Cr Winston Johnston and Alaina Megson, representing Andrew Wallace MP.

“We have 95 businesses signed up as redemption stores and growing and 8 load-up stores,” said Maleny Commerce President Nicole Hilton.

The exciting announcement of the night though was the immediate cash injection of $20,000 of presale card orders by Rob and Sam Outridge of Maleny IGA.

“They are giving the Gift Cards to their staff,” said Ms Hilton.  “What a great start for the program. Already these cards are being redeemed throughout the town.

For the chamber, though, this program enabled us to engage all types of business.”

Residents can redeem the card anywhere from restaurants and cafes, retail outlets, hair & beauty, vets, dentists, solicitors, hardware stores, fuel stations, op shops and even a tax agent.

“It’s all covered,” said Ms Hilton.

You can purchase the cards which you load up to an amount you nominate (starting at $30) from any of these outlets: Maleny IGA, Maleny Food Co News Room, Maleny Food Co Cafe, The Maleny Bookshop, On Obi Maleny, Natural Fibre Maleny, Purple Palate, Maleny Cheese.

To see where you can redeem the cards go to www.malenycommerce.org.au or  present the card when you shop in Maleny with most businesses signed up as redemption stores.
